In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Bailey changed the rules once again. She now says that no one is allowed into the Operating Room until all of the residents have completed their lists.

She was hoping to foster camaraderie and friendship, but all she got was angry residents. Mika was especially angry. She was the first to complete her list.

She didn’t care about helping anyone. She was set on ignoring all of them until she could go back to the OR. Mika was at the bar with her girlfriend when all the residents got called in. They along with most of the doctors got called in because the dance floor at a bar crumbled beneath the dancers.

The party was a celebration for the latest med school class. They were all celebrating getting white coats and were so drunk that they were a nuisance. The ER was full of drunks. One blew up a surgical glove just to blow it in Mika’s face. One was so drunk that he wandered around the hospital with a dislocated shoulder.

Simone was in charge of him. Lucas had offered to help her. She told him that Blue was helping her and Blue didn’t realize the med student was walking around on his own. Simone told him that they had to find this guy or risk Bailey going off on them.

Another girl had a leg chair sticking out of her back. She was at first scared about losing her white coat at the party. Lucas found it for her. He tried to return it and she freaked out when she saw all the blood on it.

She also freaked out when she stopped feeling her right leg. It turns out the foreign object had pierced her in a vulnerable spot on her spine. She was bleeding out into that area. Amelia and Owen felt the best course of action would be to remove the object. And to quickly close her up to stop the blood flow.

Lucas however mentioned that it wasn’t going to be enough for the patient. If she loses the ability to walk, she couldn’t become a resident. She couldn’t become a surgeon. She went to med school because she wants to be like Lucas. She wants to be a doctor. Why should she lose her dream?

Lucas couldn’t understand that and the attendees explained that sometimes that happens. Sometimes patients lose their dream if it meant they didn’t lose their lives. They took the patient into the OR and they even learned why she wants to be a doctor. Her late father was a surgeon. She wanted to carry on the legacy now that he was gone.

Simone and Blue later caught up to their missing patient. They were told by a nurse that he was headed to the roof. They go to the roof only to find him walking on the ledge.

It turns out the guy wasn’t drunk. He was suicidal. He’s been suicidal since before the party at the bar. Simone felt she couldn’t handle him with just Blue at their side. They texted Bailey. Bailey’s husband Ben was in the building. He was working a night shift as a firefighter. They both rushed to the roof where they coached the interns on what to do to get him off the ledge.

Bailey was always turning everything into a teaching moment.

Lucas meanwhile pushed his aunt to repair the damage to the patient’s spine. It wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be when they first removed the object. Owen was even pushing towards a repair. With Lucas doing so as well, Amelia had no other choice than to fix that woman’s spine.

Meredith missed out on a great surgery. She had to rush back to Boston because her son Bailey had appendicitis. Meredith was so worried that she was lashing out at Nick. She was wondering why she wasn’t his first call when he realized he had to take Bailey to the hospital.

Nick said he was about to call her. Which wasn’t enough for Meredith. She felt she should have been his first call and not the pediatrician. She hopped on Catherine’s private jet again to fly out to Boston. Richard came with her. He was doing his best to calm her down.

He knows that Meredith was lashing out because she was scared. She was scared that her son was in the hospital. She probably would have pushed to be the surgeon that treated him and there’s a reason surgeons shouldn’t work on family.

Meredith was still so angry that she told Nick he can go when she got there. Bailey made it through surgery with no problem. He was still sleeping when his mom arrived.

He woke up to see her and he immediately asked where was Nick? Back in Seattle, Jules did something that the residents have been begging to do. She told off Winston. Winston was being a jerk towards her as well as to the patient. The patient suffers from severe anxiety. Medication doesn’t work. He’s now hired a professional hugger to hold him through his attacks and that seems to help.

Well, the hugger had to go home eventually. She was also being paid by the hour. Gilbert couldn’t afford to keep her for overtime and so his anxiety was messing with his irregular heartbeat. Winston was ignoring that at first because he had just been served divorce papers. He was so angry at the world.

He took it out on everyone around him. Then Jules called him out. She told him that he was the coolest attendee before he became a jerk and that helped him to see where he was going wrong. He ended up hugging the patient until the anesthesia kicked in.

It was a successful surgery. Jules tried to apologize afterwards and Winston told her it was okay because she had been right about his behavior.

He was going to work on that. Meredith also apologized to Nick. She told him she let her fear cause her to lash out at him. Nick forgave her because he’s a wonderful guy. He loves her. Elsewhere, Jo thought she might be pregnant and she wasn’t. It made her realize that she wants to have another child eventually. And with Link whose willing to come around to the idea if its with Jo.

Simone and Blue successfully talked Eddie off the ledge. They got him a psych eval. He was going to finally get treatment for mental illness.

But Mika learned she was assigned the worst part of the hospital by her girlfriend. Not by Schmitt. Mika was so furious with Taryn that Jules helped her to calm down using the new anxiety relief she learned from the professional hugger. And Lucas got to congratulate his patient after a successful surgery.

Lucas celebrated by finally catching up on sleep by sleeping with Simone. They just shared a bed. That’s it.
