Indie/folk singer-songwriter Kate Gillespie has released her new single ‘New York’.
Produced by Nashville producer and mixing engineer Collin Pastor, ‘New York’ is an elevated extension of her previous single ‘Not Having Fun’, which was released in July last year. Armed with a breezy folk melody and Kate’s delicate yet haunting vocals, ‘New York’ deals with the conflicting emotions which arise after finding out that you’re the other woman after you’ve already fallen too deep into the relationship to want to finish things.
The track showcases Kate’s strong lyricism perfectly, offering a raw and honest take on a difficult situation. Despite the conflicting emotions in the song, the foot-tapping and uplifting melody is captivating to the ear.

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Kate spent her adolescent years at a local arts school in downtown Toronto where she honed her songwriting and performing skills. At the age of 13, her dad took her on a trip to Nashville. Not only was this a dream come true for Kate, but it also fulfilled her dad’s shared love of country music.
In 2014, Kate made the move to Nashville in order to pursue her musical career, a move which has certainly paid off so far. September 2017 saw her release her debut EP, Pink and Gold, with the title track racking up over 700,000 streams. The EP itself has garnered more than 1.5 million streams.
The talented singer-songwriter’s poetic storytelling and unique way with words has already captured the hearts of many, and we have no doubt that she will continue to lift others with her music over the coming months. There is something quite special about Kate Gillespie and she is most definitely one to watch out for.
