South Australia is trending hot right now – first with one of its beaches taking out a top gong, to now a listing in the state ranked among the 13 most wanted Airbnbs in the world.

In January, Airbnb released its new global listings with the 13 properties receiving the “most wish-listed” status for 2023 after being on the site for just 10 weeks, CNBC reported.

They may have had some help from the company’s new online feature, conveniently called “new”, which shows the freshest accommodation options.

Based on the number that have been “wish-listed”, Airbnb has come up with the most sought-after rentals, including ‘Tally-Ho’ Tiny Home in Hawson, South Australia.

The property, which is completely off the grid, has one bedroom and one bathroom that can fit up to four guests.

It is currently listed for $230 a night, for a minimum of two nights, and is described as a “sweet little house that enables you to enjoy the peaceful Australian bushland”.

It is also just 10 minutes away from the popular coastal town of Port Lincoln.

“Enjoy a taste of hobby farm living where you overlook grazing horses and ample amounts of space,” the listing reads.

“Take a short drive into town and indulge on some of Eyre Peninsula’s famous produce.

Or stoke the adorable little indoor fire and nestle up inside with a delicious local wine.”

The 12 other properties listed were all based overseas and included an $US18 million ($A25 million) property called Invisible House Joshua Tree in California.

The mirrored 22-story horizontal skyscraper is set on 36.4 hectares and was designed by film producer Chris Hanley.

In January, the house was listed for sale at $US18 million ($A25 million) according to Architectural Digest.

Best Australian Beaches of 2023 revealed

South Australia has had a good start to the year with one of its beaches taking out Tourism Australia’s annual Best Australian Beaches list.

Stokes Bay on Kangaroo Island beat nearly 12,000 Aussie beaches to be crowned the best in the nation for 2023.

The Top 10 list, which features at least one in every state, was curated by expert Brad Farmer AM, who travelled to beaches across the country.

The title has formerly gone to Western Australia’s Misery Beach in 2022, with Cabarita Beach in NSW taking the top spot back in 2021.

Coming in second was Boomerang Beach in NSW followed by Rainbow Beach in Queensland and Victoria’s Apollo Bay in fourth spot. Balmoral Beach in NSW was also the only Sydney listing to scrape in – coming in 10th.

Federal Tourism Minister Don Farrell said every beach that made the list was “not just among the best in Australia, but the best in the world”.

“Australia boasts the world’s best coastline and many international travellers, who are returning to our shores in growing numbers, want to explore the idyllic beaches we have to offer,” he said.

Mawson MP Leon Bignell MP said Stokes has always been one of his favourite beaches.

“After making the New York Times top ten places in the world to visit this year, Kangaroo Island is again topping the charts,” he said in a Facebook post.
