New York Fashion Week Welcomes Model With Down Syndrome

As New York Fashion Week begins there is a lot of talk about what a model should look like. Their height and weight always the main focus but Madeline Stuart is changing the face of fashion. Stuart was born with Down Syndrome and has not let her diagnosis and physical difference stop her

Madeline Stuart, a model with Down syndrome who we've written about before and who will be walking at New York Fashion Week this year.

As New York Fashion Week begins there is a lot of talk about what a model should look like. Their height and weight always the main focus but Madeline Stuart is changing the face of fashion.

Stuart was born with Down Syndrome and has not let her diagnosis and physical difference stop her from reaching for her dreams! Stuart is the only professional model with this genetic disorder but it hasn’t slowed her career down. Stuart will be walking in the FLT Moda show during New York Fashion Week.

Madeline wrote the following on her Facebook page, “I hope through modelling I can change society’s view of people with disabilities. Exposure is creating awareness, acceptance and inclusion.”

We hope that Madeline’s appearance on the runway will change the way people think of models. Anyone from any walk of life, disability or not can be a model and you can get there with hardwork and determination!
