Roel Degamo was shot several times and killed after he was ambushed at his home in Pamplona, Negros Oriental, on March 4, 2023, at approximately 9:36 a.m. by unidentified men. Roel Degamo was rushed to Dumaguete’s Silliman University Medical Center.
In a Facebook post, Roel Degamo’s wife Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo said her husband was pronounced dead at 11:41 a.m., saying, “The governor does not deserve that kind of death.”
She said the governor was serving his constituents on a Saturday, along with his department heads when he was gunned down by still unidentified assailants.
“There were five others who died with him. They were there to ask for help,” said Degamo. “Give the governor the justice he deserves,” she added.
